BUCHU – birch buchu, Agathosma betulina, a plant native to the mountainous areas of South Africa. It is an important herbal raw material. Essential oils are used in cooking. Their use is aromatic additives for teas and alcohols. Leaves contain many active compounds, including diosphenol, which exhibits diuretic and antibacterial properties.
