IODOTYROSINE

IODOTYROSINE is a chemical compound formed from the combination of iodine and the amino acid tyrosine. It is one of the precursors of thyroid hormones, which are necessary for the proper functioning of the body. Iodotyrosine is synthesized in the thyroid gland and then converted into thyroid hormones such as thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). These hormones regulate metabolism and affect many processes in the body. M.in. for physical and mental development, thermogenesis, protein synthesis and much more. For athletes, thyroid hormones are important because of their effects on metabolism and physical performance. These hormones increase the metabolic rate, which accelerates fat burning and allows the use of energy from food. However, excess thyroid hormones can lead to unwanted side effects such as hand tremors, excessive sweating, weight loss, and more.
