SOY ISOFLAVES are natural chemical compounds from the group of phytoestrogens, found in soy and its products. They have an effect similar to the female sex hormone – estrogen. Isoflavones may be important for athletes. Studies have shown that they can improve physical performance and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. The action of soy isoflavones on the human body is based on the effect on estrogen receptors. They can, m.in reduce the level of “bad” LDL cholesterol, increase the level of “good” HDL cholesterol, reduce the risk of heart disease and osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. In addition, soy isoflavones have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant properties and can affect the regulation of hormonal balance.
Dosage: about 50-100 mg per day.
